Why Is SEO So Important?

Ever ask yourself, “Why is SEO so important?” Maybe you have heard others talk about it but you’re not really sure whether it’s really that important.

Let’s cut right to the chase: it is.

If you have a website that you’ve worked very hard on and spent time getting it just right, setting up the navigation so that consumers can easily find what they’re looking for, developing scintillating copy that will compel them to buy what you have to offer…. but you forgot to focus on or think about setting that website up for SEO success, then you have just wasted your time. You have created a Hollywood set–something that looks beautiful on the face of it but has very little marketing substance to it.

Why? Because you have created a website that cannot be found! It may look nice for your current customers, and if you have a discussion with a prospect and then they later go check you out online, there is some value to that… But all that effort, all those hours agonizing over the content and the pictures and maybe even the video and other offers you have created for your website all will be wasted because no one will be able to find your website. In order for your website to appear on page 1 of a Google search, you have to think about search engine optimization and develop a strategy of solid content marketing.

The fact of the matter is that 81% of consumers start their search online for a product service. For searches with local intent, the numbers are even higher. This tells us that the vast majority of people at the beginning of the buying cycle use the internet and search engines to research a product or service they are interested in buying.

So why is SEO so important? Wouldn’t you like your brand and your website to be the first place that a potential buyer visits to learn more about the product or service you sell? SEO and content marketing can make that a reality.

A successful SEO campaign brings qualified traffic to your website, improves your rankings in the search engines for relevant search queries, and as long as there is nothing amiss with your website/brand/product, it should increase sales.
